The Servers Tab By default the mail servers for both Incoming and Outgoing email should be mail.volstate.net, however these can be changed by Anti-Virus Programs that offer Mail Filtering(Norton Anti-Virus/McAfee Anti-Virus/PC-Cillan) Since VOLstate has the Postini Service, which filters junk mail(SPAM) and Virus's, we recommend that you have them set to the default setting. Also here you will see your VOLstate login name and password, you can remove and retype them to confirm that they are also correct. VOLstate does NOT use Secure Password Authentication and does NOT Require authentication. | ![]() |

The Advanced Tab This tab has some features you may wish to use if you are having difficulty in checking your email. Server Timeouts can be set to a longer time should you experience 'The Server has not responded in 60 seconds" messages or similar. This will allow the server more time to attempt to retrieve or send email over slower connections. If you are having problems sending large messages you can set Outlook Express to break your message in to smaller ones that may be easier to send and receive. The last feature is Leave a copy of messages on server, this is helpful for those who have a laptop as well as a desktop computer with thier account on it so that both locations can get the emails that are needed. | ![]() |
